Black Fence Net
Black Mink??? Any ideas?
I live in a fairly rural are in Staffordshire uk, twice in a week at 6.30am I have seen what appears to be a black mink scaling the sidfe of my fence. I have a lot of poultry so spent hours looking at animals on the net, polecats, squirrels, ferrets etc to see if I could pin point what thjis could be; Could it really be a black mink? I dont know what else it could be, any ideas? It was larger than a squirrell bush tail and black definately not a cat, scaling the side not the top of my fence.
there is water nearby
It could be the pine martin it did look simlar, I thought it was a mutant squirrell at first some kind of large throw back the way it scaled the side of the fence.
mink are mainly found near bodies of water, so unless you have a brook or something near you, then its not likely to be a mink.
with the bushy tail, it could have been a pine marten
did it look like this? (ignoring the colour. they come in loads of different shades)

just to let you know too, animals like that: pine martens, minks, polecats etc are mustelids, not rodents
