An envelope is a container that is designed to contain flat objects like, letters, brochures, cards etc, and is usually made of paper or cardboard. Traditionally it has three shapes: diamond, short-arm cross and the kite, and people used them for posting letters in paper envelops, and invitations to relatives in invitation envelops .

These types of envelops have a cut-out area on their front side so that the paper inside it is visible. This cut-out area is covered with a transparent polythene sheet. The sender has to print the address of the intended receiver only once on the letter or bill itself and then all one has to do is fold the letter in a matter and stuff it in the envelope so that the address part of the letter shows through the window of the envelope. With this innovation the sender is set free from the hassle of having to print the addresses again individually over each envelope.

Return Envelop:

These envelops are self addressed and have the prepaid postage on them. They are used where the reply of the mail is required.

Special Envelops:

Some times some special type of envelops are used like, printed coin envelops , wedding invitation envelops, envelops for x-rays, cds, photographs and many others.
