Denier From Germany

Is freedom of speech dead in the UK thanks to the EU?
Right, Let me say right from the very start that I don't agree with this guy, but Gerald Toben was today arrested at Heathrow using a European arrest warrant issued by Germany on charges of being a holocaust denier.
Now seriously, regardless of the rights and wrongs of his argument, is it right that a foreign citizen can be arrested in the UK based on a warrant issued in Germany under an EU warrant?
My argument is, every country has different laws (allegedly) and as far as I'm aware holocaust denial is NOT against the law in the UK, so why should he be allowed to be arrested in the UK?
*And I say it again. I do NOT agree with his denial of the holocaust, but I do agree with the freedom of speech*
Freedom of speech was already dead in the UK.

That was a wonderful quote by LadyMoon, below:
"I think its abysmal that people in the UK can be arrested under laws that were not made in the UK - how far is it going to go? Are we all going to be subjected to French, German, Italian, Polish etc law? "
It is equally abysmal that a plaintiff from Saudi Arabia can sue a US citizen for libel in a book printed and sold in the US by importing some copies to the UK then suing in the UK. The suit would have been groundless in the US.
