decorating tips for a master bathroom?
My hubby and I just recently moved to a house and we re-painted the bathroom wall. Unfortunately the colour we chose (a light yellow) ended up being too light that it almost looks like it's just a dirty white...most of the stuff in there has a chocolate/dark brown colour (ie shower curtain, cabinets, etc) and we eventually want to change the mirror to a much nicer one with a chocolate frame to match the cabinets.
Anybody have any tips on how we can liven up our wall and sort of bring it all together? The bathroom is fairly long, it's long enough that it fits a double sink vanity, the toilet plus the bath tub and is about 4-5 feet in width (and approximately 10 feet in length give or take)
I just really want to liven it up and the wall being the way it is right now is just kind of bland and boring. (We are also going to be changing the floors and installing vinyl tiles with a taupe kind of colour to it)
Try to draw out the fact that it's yellow by using towels and rugs that are just a little darker than the yellow on the walls. Also, putting a yellow curtain over the window will tint the walls a bit. Put out yellow soaps and hang a little burlap bag of potpourri over the doorknob with a yellow ribbon. Buy a pretty yellow candle on a brown plate.
If you put enough of the darker tone in the room, you'll notice that the walls are suitably subtle. Believe me, you wouldn't have liked the walls to be too severe a shade of yellow, anyway.
