What to wear to a ballroom dance?
A date is going to take me out for a night of ballroom dancing. He is a *very* good dancer. He dresses well too.
I want to look nice for the date. I also want to be able to be able to survive an entire evening of dancing in 3 inch heels. Here is what I am planning to wear for the dance.
- purple eye shadow to match the dress
- a satin purple dress that is low cut in the front and ends in an A-line skirt a little above the knee
- a black cardigan to cover up some cleavage, I can take it off if it gets too hot
- 3 pairs of glossy skin tone pantyhose for cushioning
- 2 pairs of thick socks for cushioning
- a pair of black knee high suede boots with 3 inch heel + a plush fur lining on the inside for cushioning
Is this outfit good for a night of dancing?
Is purple eye shadow okay in a low light environment?
Am I wearing enough padding to survive dancing in 3 inch heels?

That is an EXCELLENT outfit for ballroom dancing.
I like the satin purple dress. Satin dresses are often of a reflective material which looks great when the strobe lights of the dance ball shine on your dress. Satin is also very comfortable and a common choice for ballroom dancers. A-line skirts are the preferred choice of dancers since they do not restrict movement and are more elegant than mini skirts. Bubble and pencil skirts are rarely worn for ballroom. Glossy pantyhose is once again good as it looks nice. I like your idea of wearing several pairs of pantyhose and socks inside your boots for dancing as that really offsets the impact of wearing heels above 2 inches. Your suede boots sound nice and elegant which is perfect for the ballroom scene. Regarding eye shadow, purple is the best match for the dress, so that would be the best and obvious choice.
