Here’s a guide of the current UK Standard sizes:
- Small Single: 75 X 190cm
- Single: 90 X 190cm
- Small Double: 120 X 190cm
- Double: 135 X 190cm
- King-size: 150 X 200cm
- Super King-size: 180 X 200cm
Many People Get confused when American Citizens Travel abroad, especially to the UK, and ask to buy a “Queen Sized Mattress”. What they mean, is they want to buy a Mattress that is approximately 152 X 203cm, a traditional UK King-size. More and more Manufactures are using the Phrase, “Queen Size”, as more and more people are using it to describe the size of their mattress or bed that they have already brought or wishing to buy.
Many Peope Have the same problem of when shopping in Ikea, they find and buy a bedframe that fall in love with, but then it comes down to a correctly fitted mattress. One problem is that European sized mattress in this country is a rarity, and you cannot find the right mattress for in the right size. With the IKEA Bed’s measuring at either 140 x 200 cm or 160 x 200 cm. In imperial measure this is about 4ft 7in x 6ft 7in and 5ft 3in x 6ft 7in. Many People do not realise that the European System is slightly different to the Standard UK System. So be careful when buying a bed or mattress from Foreign Retailers, as you may not find a mattress that you would like in that particular size.
