My beta is flaring in his new tank?
Earlier I asked a question about the way my beta's gills were trying to swallow his head when I transferred him into a new tank that was set up properly with cycling and ammonia and nitrite controlled, silk plants you name it. Now I understand this is quit normal behaviour called flaring, my new question is, how long should I let this spoiled fish flare and remain aggressive before I give in and keep him in his small tank for the rest of his life! I put a paper scenery around three of the four sides of the tank (on the outside) so I am pretty sure he isn't seeing his reflection.
I don't see a need to remove him from his larger tank. However, if he's flaring all day I suggest you look into anything around or in the aquarium that resembles a flowing tail. Constant flaring can be stressful for your fish. He's not spoiled ^_^ The flaring is in no way a type of bratty behavior, he might feel threatened or really excited.
