The Kegel8 Tight and Tone was developed by a doctor to help treat and strengthen weakened pelvic floor muscles. This could have a number of causes including childbirth, aging and the menopause. Until recently, women who were suffering from symptoms such as urinary incontinence and lack of sensation during sexual intercourse were advised to do "kegel exercises".
When done correctly, you should be able to stop the flow of urine whilst squeezing the muscles of your pelvic floor. To have any effect at all, women should practice a minimum of 3 sets of 10 repetitions each day. Even when practiced correctly, it can take months before any improvement was seen. In most cases, what was happening was that women were starting off their exercise regimes enthusiastically, but giving up after a few days as they were seeing no results. In addition, many women are just unsure whether or not they are doing the exercises correctly.
The Kegel8 Tight and Tone takes away this uncertainty. The probe, which of a similar size to a tampon, is gently inserted into the vagina and it delivers variable levels of mild electrical stimulation which gently but thoroughly works the muscles of the pelvic floor. Before insertion, you should lubricate the probe with the recommended gel as this not only makes insertion easier but it also vastly improves the contact with the probe, giving the best possible result. Just one 10 minute session can deliver the equivalent of thousands of traditional "kegel squeezes" which means that most women will begin to see results within just a couple of weeks.
The Kegel8 Tight and Tone has none pre-set levels to choose from and these are displayed on the screen when you switch it on. Basically, the higher the number, the greater the muscle stimulation. You are advised to begin at a level which feels comfortable for you and gradually work up the levels if necessary. as a guide, you should begin at a level which feels comfortable but where you can actually feel sensation. It is a good idea to vary the programs you use from time to time as this will get the best results-just as you are advised to vary your exercise routine for traditional fitness exercises.
There is a more advanced version of this model, called the Kegel8 Ultra and whilst this might be visibly more advanced and offers a greater range of programs, the principle is the same and the end result is likely to be very similar if used correctly.
